Weetbix TRYathlon 2026
On Wednesday, a group of us from Puketapu School went to the Weet-Bix TRYathlon. In other years there have only been a few kids from our school, but this year we had about 25 Puketapu kids entered, which was a really great turnout!A big thanks to Theo’s dad, Tim, for setting up the Puketapu marquee so we had a base to come back to. It made the day so much better having somewhere to meet, rest, and find everyone. This was my 4th year in a row doing the Weet-Bix TRYathlon, and I think having a base this year made a huge difference. Hopefully next year even more people will enter!I tried to watch the other Puketapu races when I could, which was really cool cheering everyone on. At the end, we all got together for a group photo too.For my race, I was in the 11-year-olds. First, we had to do a 200 metre swim in the ocean, and it was freezing! Then we did two laps of the bike track, which was about 8km, and finally a 1500 metre run. By the end, I was exhausted, but also really proud that I finished. It was such a big day full of adventure and fun. I would definitely recommend it to other kids to give it a go next year because it was really fun!
