Ōmata Cross Country
Yesterday, a group of eight of us went to the Ōmata School Full Primary Cross Country for Year 7 & 8 students.
The group was Hamuora, Kendall, Hayzyn, Sophie Mc, Sophie E, Goo, Kohen and me.
Mr E and Sophie McGovern’s dad, Dion, drove us there. We listened to music on the way to get us pumped up and ready for the race! 🎶
When we arrived, it was cloudy, but luckily the rain hadn’t started yet. The cross country was held on a private property, and we walked the course first so we knew where we were going.
Then it was time to run! Unfortunately, the rain started pouring down, and by the end we were absolutely drenched. 🌧️
We had some awesome results, with a few of our runners coming away with placings:
- 13 Year Boys: Goo Pham – 5th place
- 13 Year Boys: Hamuora Adams – 6th place
- 11 Year Girls: Sophie McGivern – 5th place
- 11 Year Boys: Kohen Harvey – 5th place
The uphill run was definitely a difficult challenge! The river crossing was probably my favourite and least favourite part all at once. 😂 It was fun but also pretty cold and muddy!
There were lots of schools and heaps of kids there, which made it a really fun afternoon. It was great to spend time with everyone and represent our school.
A big thank you to Mr E and Dion for driving us and supporting us on the day!
