Interschool Rugby

On Friday, we went to Hāwera to play in the Year 7 & 8 Interschool Rugby Tournament. Our school didn’t quite have enough players for a whole team, so we borrowed some players from Bell Block School and Lepperton School.
We all got along really well, and it was nice being able to help each other out and play as one team. We played four games and won two of them, so it was a good day, especially considering we had a mix of players from different schools.
I was also lucky enough to be able to help out the netball team for their first and last games because they had lots of players who were sick.
A big thank you to Mr Lewis for coaching our rugby team. It was a really good day and we had lots of fun representing Puketapu School.

Thank you to Mr E for coaching us and teaching us some new skills. It was an early start on Friday and the bus ride felt really long!
We played six games altogether. We won two, drew two and lost two, so we were pretty happy with how we went.
We had a really good and encouraging team who all looked after each other and worked together. We also had a few parents there supporting us, including Joel’s dad, Euan’s mum and Liam’s mum. It was awesome having them there cheering us on.
Everyone showed our school values throughout the day, and most importantly, we had fun and enjoyed playing together.

We had an awesome day in Hāwera for Interschool Netball! We played five games and gave every game our best. We had some great wins and some really close games too.
Our results were:
- Mangorei: Won 16–8
- Bell Block: Lost 22–5
- Stratford: Lost 19–8
- Oakura: Lost by just one point, 12–11!
- Inglewood: We don’t know the score, but it was a really close game!
One of the best parts of the day was making our candy salad and, of course, having matching hair! We thought we looked pretty cool. The rugby boys did manage to sneak some of our lollies, but luckily they didn’t eat them all!
The weather was mostly good, although we did get a little bit of rain.
Overall, it was a really fun day filled with netball, teamwork, laughs and great memories. We were proud to represent our school and had an awesome time together!
