Puketapu Leaders Attend Taranaki LEAD Conference

Two weeks ago on Friday, us leaders went to the Taranaki LEAD Conference. We arrived at school at 7:15am and then left at 7:30am in Mr Lewis, Whaea Cassie and Kerie’s cars.

When we arrived, we jumped straight into helping out, like sorting goodie bags, setting up the welcome sign, greeting people and checking schools in. We were told that we were helpers, but we all took the role of VIPs!

We had the opportunity to meet the speakers, go backstage, sit in the front row and get on stage to award the speakers with chocolate and a ‘thank you’.

The speakers talked about emotions, consequences, challenges you face along the way, what you get from working hard, leadership, teamwork, inspiring stories and how to have fun!

We helped out with lunch by setting up the tables and the food. During lunch, kids were associating and making lots of new friends on the little grass hill outside.

There was a band that played after morning tea, and at the end, one of our leaders had the chance to get up on stage and dance with them!

After the band played their last song, we all stayed behind to vacuum, pick up rubbish and help out with other things.

It was a great experience to connect with others, represent our school, learn lots of new things and make some new friends.
