🌺 It’s Cook Islands Language Week | Te Reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani 🇨🇰
This week, we’re celebrating Cook Islands Language Week here at Puketapu School!
Throughout the week, our classes will be learning some Cook Islands greetings and simple words, while exploring the rich culture, traditions, and stories of the Cook Islands.
Some classes may also be creating a tivaevae – a beautiful traditional Cook Islands quilt that symbolises family, love, community, and creativity. We can’t wait to see the wonderful learning and creativity happening across our kura.
At Puketapu School, we love celebrating the many cultures that make up our school community. Learning about different languages and traditions is a great way to show Manaakitanga, build understanding, and celebrate diversity.
🌺 If your whānau has Cook Islands heritage, we’d love for you to share your culture, language, or traditions with us.
Kia manuia! 💚
