The weather looked like it wasn't going to play ball, but we went ahead anyway and it was great fun!
There were games and races, swimming and fun, and food too.
It was great to see so many people of all ages at the picnic and good to see some ex-pupils back to share in the fun.
What a great way to start the year!
Tug o war needs muscles...
...lots of muscles!
Piggy back races need teamwork...
... and sausages to refuel!
On Friday 5 February, Year 7 & 8 students walked the White Cliffs Walkway, in the far north of Taranaki.
We walked from Pukearuhe, up over open farmland, along the ridge tops and to Wai Pingao Stream, before descending through the tunnel and returning to Pukearuhe via the beach at low tide.
It was a hard walk and a hot day, but an amazing experience.
Some of the walking was steep!
But the view from the top was amazing!
There were some new challenges...
We walked through the tunnel
It was an amazing walk back along the beach at low tide.

It was with great pride that we said farewell to our graduating Year 8 students at a beautiful shared dinner arranged by the students.
In front of their teachers, their friends and their families, our Year 8 students spoke of their time at Puketapu School, their memories and the things they will take on to to high school with them.
We are all very proud of the young men and women they have become and we wish them all the very best in the future. (And we know they will be back to visit - they will always be welcomed.)
