Our Refreshed Vision and Values

Following the research and consultation we carried out last year with our students, parents, whānau, staff, and wider community, we are very excited to share our refreshed Vision and Values at Puketapu School.

These changes represent an evolution of the values we have held for the past eight years and reflect our growth and development as a school. While some of the names may look a little different, the kaupapa behind them remains the same: supporting our tamariki to become the best versions of themselves and positive contributors to their communities, now and in the future.

These are values to live by—at Puketapu School and beyond.

Our Vision

Mā te poipoi, mā te ako, ka ora te iwi
Through nurturing and learning, we succeed together.

Our Values

Manaakitanga
Kia akiaki te mana o te tangata
Uplift and uphold the dignity and prestige of people.
I lift everyone’s mana.

Kaitiakitanga
Kia tiaki koe i te mauri
To care and nurture.
I am a guardian for our taiao, people, and spaces.

Māia
Kia tū māia, kia tū aumangea
Stand with courage and perseverance.
I keep trying, even when things are hard.

Whanaungatanga
Kei te mahi tahi mātou te whānau
We work together as a whānau.
I help build a strong community.

We look forward to embedding these values across our learning, relationships, and everyday school life, and to continuing this journey together with our Puketapu School whānau.

Ngā mihi nui,
Puketapu School
