Today at 9:30 am, our whole school participated in the New Zealand ShakeOut. We stopped what we were doing and practised Drop, Cover and Hold in real time. Over the intercom, Paula was our real life earthquake announcing it over the intercom system, and as our tamariki were safely under cover she shared some fascinating facts about earthquakes.
Did you know that over 755,000 people nationwide have registered to take part in ShakeOut this year? It’s part of a nationwide effort to make sure earthquake safety becomes second nature for everyone.
Thanks to everyone, tamariki, kaiako, and staff, for being part of this important practice. Stay safe, stay ready.
Check out these awesome snaps our teachers took.
