Following the water contamination and restrictions last week,

Puketapu School is opening tomorrow (Monday) with the following measures:

- Children are encouraged to bring at least one litre of drinking water for themselves.
- A limited supply of back up water will be available should anyone run out.
- All taps and drinking water sources will be covered.
- Hand sanitiser will be provided.
- It will be parents' decision to send their children to school or not.
- Staff will educate children around safe practices and the measures they need to go through, ie. sanitise after toileting and before eating.

Ex Cyclone Gita caused damage all over the place - including water pipes in the New Plymouth area, leading to contamination and water shortages.

Following advice from the New Plymouth District Council, the Board of Trustees made the decision to close the school.

School closed at 12.30pm on Wednesday 21 February.

The school remained closed for Thursday 22 February and Friday 23 February.

A decision about opening the school on Monday 26 February will be made once we have more information.
