We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ngatai Walker as the new Principal of Puketapu School, starting at the beginning of Term 3, 2016.

An experienced educator, Ngatai was Deputy Principal at Inglewood Primary and has most recently been working for Core Education as Learning with Digital Technologies Facilitator.

Believing strongly in growing positive citizens, Ngatai is a leader with a strong knowledge of teaching and learning and a passion for community. He is excited about the role and is looking forward to taking up the role.

The Board of Trustees was unanimous in their decision to appoint Ngatai and we are extremely excited about the future of the school and the community.

We appreciate the superb job that Miss Sattler is doing leading the school for Term 2 and we know she is also excited at the prospect of Ngatai guiding our waka.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in the process, for all the communication and input that helped guide the decision making process, and for all you do to make the Puketapu community and Puketapu School such a great place to be.

After 43 years teaching and more than 10 years at Puketapu School, Mr J is hanging up his Principal's boots and heading off into retirement.

We have enjoyed some great times with Mr J and we made sure his last week was one to remember: during the week Mr J enjoyed a fun 'Tour de Mike' dinner; an amazing morning tea from More FM; a moving final assembly featuring 'Mary the Fairy'; an afternoon tea with many visitors and tributes.

Thank you Mr J, for everything you have done for Puketapu School, and we hope you have a wonderful retirement.
